Bigger and roomier than its predecessor, the all-new 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe has been revealed online about a month before the debut in the flesh at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

While the board bearing the name of the E-Class Coupe is doing a good job of distinguishing itself from the sedan and estate stablemates proportions and coupé roof line dashing, but on the other hand, mimics the styling is very small two-door version of the C-class and S-class larger.

So much so, that unless you pay attention to certain details, such as the third side window, tail lights leaner and longer, dual power dome on the hood and softer and less pronounced side line, you could easily mistake it for the C-class Coupe.

At launch, Mercedes has confirmed four models for the European market, including the 194PS (191hp) E220d with a 2.0L inline-four diesel, the 184PS (181hp) E200 and 245PS (242hp) E300, both powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four gasoline and E400 4MATIC featuring 333PS (328hp) petrol V6 twin-turbo. As the name suggests, the first three rear-wheel drive, while the E400 4Mmatic is all-wheel drive.

The US and Canada will get E400 in both rear-and 4Matic all-wheel drive variant powered by a 3.0L 329hp V6 turbo gasoline engine of the same.

All models, regardless of the market and the engine, fitted as standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission 9G- TRONIC.

Mercedes will add the engine to the lineup later, including the sporty AMG 50, may display a new version of + 400hp Merc’s new straight-six engine, and E63 AMG with a twin-turbo V8 delivers up to 563hp (571PS).

Buyers will be able to choose from three suspension set-up, the steel base sprung Direct Control system that sits 15mm lower than the E-Class sedan, Body Dynamic Control system with adjustable damping and Control of Water Agency with the multi-room air springs. Like the E-Class sedan, there will be a long list of the complete features of comfort, technology and safety standards and is available optionally.

The new E-Class Coupe will reach showrooms of Europe and North America in the summer of 2017.
